Hello everyone,

I want to insulate a small garden shed to better heat it from the inside in winter, if necessary. (With facade insulation boards made of mineral wool, e.g. Ultimate Kontur FSP-032 or Rockwool Fixrock) you would have the advantage that it also provides some soundproofing, in case you stay longer in the shed after a barbecue evening.

The current wall construction would be approximately 8 cm in timber frame construction filled with sauerkraut boards. Inside, we would (to add some stiffness) directly cover with OSB (22mm) and then an additional drywall panel. Now I am considering how to do the outside (between 40-80mm, ideally 60mm).

The first alternative would be:

[*]60mm ETICS insulation board (based on EPS) for direct plastering - 60mm
[*]60mm Rockwool Coverrock 2 facade insulation plaster carrier boards - 60mm
[*]40mm Isover Ultimate Kontur or Rockwool Fixrock with ventilation gap and then Fermacell Powerpanel H2O

I would actually tend towards something breathable, so a question regarding 3:
A. Is it possible to use a wooden substructure to realize the gap for ventilation?
B. How wide should the ventilation gap be at least?
C. Are Fermacell boards suitable in terms of bending and impact resistance with existing ventilation?

Best regards

Anyone have a tip or experience with WVDW made of stone wool (as plaster carrier boards)?

Info: My architect says that the advantages (regarding vapor permeability) are relativized again with stone wool at the latest when the plaster layer is applied. (This confused me a bit because mineral plaster or silicone resin plaster should actually be vapor permeable).

Hi

I would also go in direction 3 - separating weather protection and thermal insulation.

I can’t say anything about the Fermacell board
We have the walls with a stud frame - wood fiber insulation board - ventilation and HPL board

Hi, what was applied to the HPL board? 3 would also be my preference, although I need to clarify here whether 1-2cm ventilation would be sufficient and whether the construction made of wood is possible instead of the original spacers.

Hi

The HPL board is finished as is on its surface.
