Extractor hood / roof or wall

Hello everyone,

we are currently still at the shell construction stage, but the question about the ventilation for a desired island extractor hood has now come up.

Should we route the ventilation through the roof or through the exterior wall?
What do you think? Opinions / experiences welcome.

Generally the most important question:
Is a ventilation through the roof with a length of about 7 meters even feasible / sensible?

A few more thoughts:
Exterior wall:
Pros
- shorter distance approx. 2-3 meters
Cons
- dirt on the exterior wall from dripping grease!?
- west side, the wind blows the fumes back again
- possibly thermal bridge through the wall penetration

Roof:
Pros
- weather conditions don’t matter
- external motor in the attic reduces noise
- no thermal bridge!?
Cons:
- approx. 7 meters
- high cost

Here are a few key facts that might be relevant:
- no controlled residential ventilation
- open kitchen to the living room
- fireplace planned in the living room
- chimney draws air from above
- we are not in favor of a recirculation hood

Definitely talk to the responsible district chimney sweep.
There's no point if they don't approve the action afterwards.
Mine insisted on a toggle switch in the kitchen in connection with the stove in the living room (also an open living/dining area).
Then it's always a consideration whether you have to blow the expensively heated air outside and draw in properly cold air through the window.
Sure, the good old saying "air that is outside can no longer smell inside", but nowadays there are also decent things for recirculated air.

We have a Siemens extractor hood attached to a Berbel wall box that leads outside through the wall. No grease drips anywhere on the exterior wall. Well, the internal parts of the exhaust hood need to go into the dishwasher every 3 to 4 weeks. That’s about it. When not cooking, the wall box closes completely tight. We are very satisfied with this setup. Sylvia

We currently have one in the apartment kitchen. It’s useless... Hence the bad experience/opinion.

The new ones offer more performance with safety.

But since we have an open kitchen, we just want to be sure.

What distance does the exhaust pipe cover in your setup?

I also have concerns that because of the window contact switch on the kitchen window and thus the forced open window during extractor hood operation, the bad air might be drawn back in through the open window. How far should the distance between wall outlet and window be here?
