Hi,

I would like to make a concrete platform in front of our front door as exposed concrete.
2x0.9m and about 20cm high.
It should be exactly one low step.
And I would then drive onto it later with the paving.

What exactly needs to be considered?
Of course, smooth formwork panels.
I also have a concrete vibrator.
(I have already processed 7 tons of concrete in the last few weeks for the garage construction, ring beam, and lintel, but the appearance was not important then ;-)

We do have a 1m roof overhang and actually no precipitation there except drizzle, but I would still make a 1% slope.

And from what I have read, I should go for good c25/30 0-8mm ready-mix concrete?
I would now lay one layer of reinforcing mesh in the middle.
It basically only has to hold itself, it just has to be smooth.
A certain roughness should remain so that it doesn't get too slippery.

For the separation from the facade and front door, I would lay an 8-10mm thick building protection mat?
That would leave the gap at the door and facade visible.
Can I later seal this with, for example, Sikaflex Pro 1 concrete gray 1K polyurethane sealant?

For the chamfer, I would have gotten such 45-degree triangular wooden wedges as in the picture?

Attached are once our entrance, and a picture of how I imagine the platform.
Afterwards, I would somehow seal it.

Tips and suggestions?

Use frost- and de-icing salt-resistant concrete.

Possibly use a broom finish if a smooth surface is not desired.

Consolidate exposed concrete well.

Our platform is paved, which visually matches the path.

Besenstrich sounds interesting.
To lay down with a normal broom with hard bristles in completely wet concrete?

Note: If the floor is not permanently dry or is cleaned hard / pressure washed several times a year, it quickly becomes an optical mess on the floor (turns green and it "rots" in the grooves).

Yes. The one with stiff plastic bristles. Alternatively, there are special brooms available for this (broom finish is actually something for the wall = plastering technique).

Broom finish is not for DIY. Unless you have plenty of experience with it.

You can try it, if it fails you can do the smooth finish again.

You will definitely find videos online on how to do it.

has already written what kind of broom should be used. For concrete sidewalks, the broom finish has been made for generations. I also know it from America.

Yes, I also see the problem of weathering. Even my granite slabs develop algae and dirt.
