we are considering whether we should use a pleated blind instead of an opaque glass at the main bathroom.
We would do the same for the window in the hallway (approx. 2m high).
We are unsure what disadvantages a pleated blind has.
There are also many ways to attach a pleated blind...
We do not want to drill into the window.
Clamping it between the window and the window frame (in my opinion) is not the best either... It is no longer so tight at that point.
I am also not sure how durable the adhesive mounting of the holder is.
Unfortunately, we do not have anyone in our circle of acquaintances who has a pleated blind.
Have you already had experience with pleated blinds?
If yes, what kind?
What experiences have you had with the attachment options?
Thank you!

Hello,

I installed an inexpensive pleated blind that can be clamped onto the frame in the kitchen. It's pretty okay. However, it occasionally wrinkles, so you have to push it together again for a while to make the wrinkles disappear. But it is quite practical. Pleated blinds are usually quite expensive, especially if you have to have one custom-made. I would definitely get advice from a professional. But clamping it works quite well. I wouldn’t use adhesive either.

Just glued one together. The adhesives are very, very strong. But 2m height is quite something, is that even possible? I had it custom-made, but I am still not satisfied with the quality, or maybe also with my own installation. Therefore, like the previous tip: Let a professional do it, you look at it every day and it can be seen from the outside. However, I wouldn't use it in the bathroom, as something like that doesn't belong there in my opinion.

We have had pleated blinds installed in our (still) rental apartment in the living room on the double-leaf balcony door. We ordered the two pleated blinds from the specialist dealer with custom measurements including installation. The brackets were nailed into the frame. The price was about €450. We are very satisfied - both with the quality of the material and the mounting. The brackets were fixed with very small nails that could be easily closed later (wood, painted white). In the future house, we also have a large window in the bathroom that can be darkened from the outside with a venetian blind. But I think the idea of the pleated blind is very nice because you only have to "cover" the lower area and light still falls in from above. @lastdrop: What speaks against installing the pleated blind in the bathroom - the fabric is treated after all?

Hi our site manager advised against using a front door with a glass insert made of patterned glass because you cannot see who is standing in front of the door. He said many builders choose clear glass and achieve privacy with appropriate window film. This way, you can leave certain areas uncoated as needed, allowing visibility. That might also be something for the bathroom or kitchen windows, if you like. In any case, it’s inexpensive and reversible.
