What kind do you have? Do you know the manufacturer?
I also saw a product from a specialist retailer at friends’ own house, which seemed clearly more robust than what we got.
But it is also like Nida said: The mesh is very thin and you barely see it.

No, those didn't fry, they worked with chemicals. Presumably, some environmentalist thought that might also be harmful to humans.

I have something similar, search for Mosquito Cooling Stick.
Apply it immediately, that almost always helps me.

We simply keep replacing the broken fly screens from time to time. Because of the cats, we have so far only used cheap ones to stick to the frame, as the beasts keep making holes in them. I can understand your frustration very well, but unfortunately, it was foreseeable.
