Hello to all practitioners here in the forum.

For some time now, I have been enthusiastically following the various posts about the topic of building.

Now I want to take advantage of the beautiful days to start several projects in the outdoor area at my home.

In my current entrance area, there is an aged granite slab with an old-fashioned pattern installed. I would like to replace this with a concrete pedestal including coating (gravel-gray). In theory, I had planned to pour a concrete foundation and then cover it with a coating/tiles. However, I now have several questions regarding the execution.

Question 1

How deep should a foundation for such a pedestal be? (You read about 80cm because of the frost line)

Question 2

Does the foundation need to be filled with gravel/crushed stone and reinforced with steel mesh?

Question 3

Should there be a 2-degree slope for the runoff water toward the front door?

Question 4

How should the transition to the door be made? There should be a tight connection from the door to the pedestal.

(WDVS panels, protective coating, drainage membranes)????

Question 5

Is it absolutely necessary to embed a brush strip and a drainage pipe in it?

What do you think? I would be very grateful for your opinions, ideas, and creative suggestions.

The last 3 images are sample suggestions of how it could approximately look.

Taste ... and what it is like ...

I personally think that concrete has many practical properties, but compared to a natural stone, it falls behind.

Describing the "pattern" of a stone as "old-fashioned" seems "bold" to me. Such a stone and its pattern usually have more than a million years on their back ... back then there were no fashions that could be "in" or "out."

I personally would prefer stone over concrete.

You don’t need such a deep foundation. Pragmatically, you can just pour the thing flat, it will stay in place under its own weight and since it has neither water pressure nor supports a slope, nothing will happen.

No, that would be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. You are just building a podium that people walk on occasionally. Properly executed concrete is enough. Even curing is the key here.

Away from the front door.

Watertight why? Leave a small gap, use a drainage mat, extend the treated surface to the edge.

No, the only important thing is that the surface does not become slippery when wet.

Looking at your pictures, I would first develop an idea of how it should all work together, because the hodgepodge of shapes and materials directly in front of the entrance also still has design potential.

A link I posted earlier was deleted. I didn’t know the rule. Now I know.

Am I allowed to name the company? It’s a store for all kinds of concrete products, where I get the impression: The owner knows his stuff well.
That could be useful for the concrete entrance platform.

I had a “large” (20 sqm) concrete terrace poured and ground down at my place. That results in a surface like terrazzo, meaning polished pebbles. I would prefer that over the “coating slabs.”
