Hello everyone,
as should be known by now, a KfW55 house is no longer subsidized.

We initially wanted to build KfW40+, but that is off the table for now due to the discontinued subsidies.

Question:
Is it still financially worthwhile to build a KfW55 house, or is it much more economical to go with the Energy Saving Ordinance standard?

By the way, the plan is for a semi-detached house built solidly, about 160-170 sqm living space + utility basement + central ventilation system + triple glazing + heat pump + photovoltaics at some point later.

Thank you very much in advance.

So without funding, it doesn't make sense at first to build specific "stages/classes".

To say whether energy-efficient construction is financially worthwhile, one would have to be able to predict energy prices.

It also depends on what you want anyway, e.g., a controlled residential ventilation system for comfort reasons, a heat pump for environmental reasons, a photovoltaic system for both reasons, etc.

Another factor is how you otherwise want the house: made of wood, stone, brick, etc.
From this, more or less sensible insulation and heating concepts result.

Why comply with kfw55 when the standard no longer brings any money and the energy consultant only costs money unnecessarily? It is best if you build something better than the minimum requirements of the Gebäudeenergiegesetz prescribe, and in the end you don’t even know whether it accidentally meets kfw55 or not.

That depends a bit on the builder. Many general contractors have KfW55 as standard; re-planning to a lower standard will not make anything cheaper.

Nice, there’s about 20 sqm potential to cut back ;-)

What does the last sentence mean?

Yes, the GCs we visited have KfW55 as standard. What we definitely want is a central controlled residential ventilation system. I also fear that deviating from the KfW55 standard probably won't make much sense or bring savings.
