I only recently decided to build a house and came across this forum while searching for information. Here I have read a lot about recommendations for a controlled ventilation system. After my very extensive research, I have come to the conclusion that the planned new energy saving regulation currently does not contain concrete requirements for the installation of controlled ventilation systems and that this is not planned either!!!! In the planned energy saving regulation, concrete energetic values may be specified that must be achieved in every new building. Every builder must or can decide for themselves how to achieve these values. For example, through controlled ventilation systems, underfloor heating, geothermal energy, district heating, thermal insulation composite systems, thickness or density of building materials, etc. Existing houses will not be affected. Both the existing Energy Saving Ordinance and the revision fundamentally do not exclude the applicability of DIN 1946-6. That would be quite a scandal. ;-) This is also the case with the currently valid Energy Saving Ordinance! Requirements must also be met during renovations. Many buyers of existing properties are missing out on considerable potential here, which would justify a reduction in the purchase price. It is not quite that simple; sometimes minimum requirements must be met in specific areas. Often, only a combination leads to the overall economical goal! Regards

Hello €uro,

thank you for your additions. My intention was not to address experts like you, but to inform everyone else. Because unfortunately, it is also written in this forum that the new [Energieeinsparverordnung] requires a controlled ventilation system. Of course, that is not true. However, if within the framework of the [Energieeinsparverordnung] one decides on particularly strong insulation and the building envelope becomes very tight, then the DIN standard you quoted applies. It prescribes that a controlled ventilation system for forced ventilation must be installed.

Regards
