Hello everyone,

how is an energy consumption certificate for a house with a heat pump created? I see two problems here:

[*]How is the electricity consumption of the heat pump determined if it does not have its own electricity meter?
[*]Flat-rate deduction of hot water production amounting to 20 kWh/m²a: This could easily result in negative values, especially with low hot water consumption and at the same time low heat demand. But even positive values would generally seem too low. How is this problem dealt with?

Thanks and best regards from

Modern heat pumps have an integrated electricity meter, which can even display consumption depending on the "medium". In other words: hot water and heating separately. Whether all heat pumps can do this and from which years it has been possible, I unfortunately cannot say.

Thank you for the first response. In the specific case, neither is given. Only the operating hours since commissioning and the total volume of hot water produced (without temperature information) can be accessed via the panel. The pump is from 2007.

I can imagine that it was not possible there yet. Unfortunately, I cannot contribute anything about such old devices.

Not at all. You cannot have an energy consumption certificate created then. Although this is often more of an estimate than a measurement. The pump is often not included either. Current consumption of 0.44 kWh is rounded down to 0.40 or up to 0.50 at 0.46 kWh. This can easily happen, so that the energy certificate (as so often) is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Wow. That's quite a statement. By the way, I see endless real estate listings with heat pumps and energy consumption certificates. Is it common for heat pumps to have their own electricity meter?
