Hello everyone,

I have run an empty conduit DN50 from the house connection room to the garden.
Electricians are currently hanging the distribution cabinet and wiring the cables.
The screed layer is supposed to come next week.

Question: Should I lay the cables from the house connection room to the garden now?
The electrician told me that I can lay the cables to the outside at a later time and possibly lay them over a cable duct. So the empty conduit would then be cut off at floor level after the screed.

Silly question: Don't I have to close the conduit, e.g., because of pests or something similar? Sorry, but maybe I forgot the logic.

You can also put a cap on the empty conduit. ;) Otherwise, you would probably first lay in the desired cable and then somehow seal it – probably with well foam or something similar. In addition, there are also special systems for this issue, but they are probably much more expensive than a plain pipe and some foam.

My electrician does not want to lay a conduit into the garden, but only the cables directly...

Another question in this context: Are conduits DN25 sufficient for Duplex-Cat7 or should I rather take a larger diameter? There would be additional costs because of the developer...

The empty conduit is installed by the shell builder anyway. ;)

With us, only the cables were led outside and a cable protective conduit was used only outdoors. Sealed inwardly with a ring gasket. An empty conduit would have to be sealed anyway (in a shoddy manner), which would then also negate the purpose of an empty conduit.

Until you actually use the empty conduit, you can seal it from the outside with a blind plug. That way, there is no draft and no pests can get in. We also have an empty conduit that goes from the basement to the garage. Alongside cables for electricity, heavy current, and lines for the exterior lighting of the garage, which is linked to the exterior lighting of the house, a 3/4 inch water pipe also runs through the empty conduit. I sealed it by stuffing insulating wool in from the basement side and filling the pipe with sand from the garage side.
