Electricity - From when is it allowed to install a meter cabinet

Hello everyone,

we are currently building 3 terraced houses. Since our general contractor has stopped the work, we were unfortunately forced to halt the construction. At the moment, we have a completed basement and a finished ground floor including the ceiling above the ground floor. The houses are already connected including multi-utility house entry.

The construction site power box belongs to the electrician of the general contractor and will likely be picked up soon.

For us, the question now is whether we need a new construction site power box (including interim billing and re-registration with Netze BW) or whether it might be possible or allowed to already install and register the meter cabinet in the basement now so that we no longer rely on construction site power afterwards.

- The basement is not to be plastered and thus remains in its current state.

If I have forgotten any relevant information, please feel free to ask.

So for us it was sufficient that the house connections are located in a locked room, meaning: the basement room had to be closed at the top (finished ceiling) and lockable, with a construction door being sufficient. What you might want to clarify is whether regular sockets are enough or if the electrician should also install a high-voltage connection.

We also gave up construction power very early because the household electricity was 5 cents cheaper per KWH and in total (especially during the construction drying phase) that had a significant effect.

Without knowing the background that led to the construction stop, I would try to speak directly to the electrician to see if a solution can be found. So if you only have problems with the general contractor [GU] and not with the electrician. If the electrician is the stumbling block or involved, of course you have a problem. In my opinion, however, with multiple trades and as long as no other trade stands in the way, household electricity can already be connected. With a connection inside the house, you are of course also dependent on the appointment with the network operator.

Just talk to the network operator or your electrician!

I think the room must be lockable at the very least.

In our case, the construction site was without power for quite a long time.
Most craftsmen managed well with battery-powered tools!

We have already tried that. The electrician also did not receive any money from the general contractor and now wants the money from us. But since we have already significantly overpaid the general contractor, I cannot also cover the invoices for the contractors of the general contractor.

Yes, that will not work for us because we need a crane and that requires heavy current.

Does that mean that "only" the room with the construction power box had to be lockable, or that there had to be a house door?

Ok, this is really tricky. Especially if the general contractor gets an insolvency administrator, it could even be that you still have to pay the remaining amount to the general contractor (in addition) even when you have a new electrician. Definitely consult a lawyer. Regarding lockability, be sure to ask the network operator. By the way, a construction site power box is lockable itself and can also be placed outside. The house connection room must be lockable for most network operators.
