Dear forum members,

we are currently working on the electrical planning.

We are pondering the following problem:

Next to the door, there should be a sideboard on which a floor lamp is to be placed. The sideboard is about 40-50 cm away from the door. Normally, one would place sockets next to the door at the bottom, but in this case, the cable would lie exposed for about 20-30 cm towards the cabinet. Would it be best in this case to place the socket directly behind the sideboard and then use an ultra-flat angled plug? How have you proceeded in such cases?

Thank you very much in advance.

Exactly like that. You can never have enough sockets.

Yes, flat plugs are great. You might just have to solder... Another tip: have the socket by the door wired to be switchable, then it's even more convenient.

Not "either" - or but "both - and".

Next to the door and good. I am not designing my house for a transient piece of furniture.

Not the house, but maybe an extra socket. Small cost and big impact (the socket will be needed for some or maybe many years after all).
