Hello everyone,

Are there any recommendations/experiences regarding lamp installation (recessed spots, pendant lamps) in a solid wood ceiling? Especially the lamp above a dining table, because during the construction phase you probably don’t know the table, nor the exact position of the table and consequently the lamp. And if you are laying the cables from the upper floor, the position must be precisely determined. With a suspended ceiling, you are more flexible in this regard because the cables can be moved to some extent within the suspension. I would be very happy about experiences, maybe also pictures.

Thank you very much

I don't quite understand the question. What is more difficult about a solid wood ceiling compared to a common solid concrete ceiling?

If you don't want to decide in advance where the table should be placed, you run cables to possible lamp locations and put a canopy on it.

I understand that one should fix the positions, as with a concrete ceiling. But with a wooden ceiling, this will probably often be done later, as long as you can still reach from above. However, maybe someone has other solutions to remain at least somewhat flexible. I don’t necessarily want a canopy. Rather a rail system. Maybe there is only one position for the dining table once the shell construction is completed. And for other areas, lamps on the wall are also conceivable.

I simply assume that by [Holzdecke] you mean an exposed wood ceiling? I went through the shell construction with my electrician back then and determined the positions. As you suspect, this is indeed much easier during the shell construction phase than "by plan".

yes, I mean a solid wood ceiling in visible quality. I think some things can be planned in advance. Some probably only once the shell construction is in place. You can also test how which lights work and whether they are sufficient. Provided you already have the lights beforehand.
