We have the item "Elastische Verfugungen" listed in the cost summary from our construction supervisor with roughly 700€. I already asked him once, but I don't remember: what kind of joints are these? I can't find anything online either, only companies that do this, but they don't specify where these joints are located. So - which joints are these, please?

Silicone joints at the transition from either floors to their skirting boards or ceilings to walls in the upper floor.

Could be bathrooms, but also door frames. Possibly also on stairs.

aha... hmm actually I would have expected that a joint between FB and FBLeiste would be included in the offer from the flooring installer. In the bathroom, a few vertical ones are still missing in the corner between tile/wall. And we don’t have door frames yet, I also thought that the door specialist would take care of that.

So the conclusion: I understand that there are still joints in various places – I just thought they belong to the respective trade and are not a separate block that one trade carries out? So alright, let’s see...

Between the walls it is done by the interior fitter, the tile baseboards are offered by the tiler. But there is often a small splash, that’s what the professionals call it. That’s probably why the extra item. You should do them anyway only after 2 years, when everything has settled.

I can only recommend that as well. Many of our joints cracked in the first few years because we did it right away. I removed the silicone and re-sealed it. Sealing goes fine, but removing the old silicone is sometimes a real pain. Depending on the joint size, I have now inserted a joint backing cord at the back. That saves silicone on large joints and hopefully makes it easier to remove next time.
