Ektorp Corner: Variants

Hello everyone,

I want to buy or have bought a used Ektorp corner for the living room. The seller says that it is an approximately 6-year-old corner sofa with a spring core (!) and a sleeping function. At least the sleeping function is documented in photos. Since the cover has already suffered after 6 years, I want to buy a new one. Therefore the question: Does Ikea have such a thing? Is it special? Do the "normal" covers fit the Ektorp?

by now there are quite a few providers who make sofa covers for IKEA sofas:

These usually even have covers for discontinued models, such as the EKESKOG sofa. If you plan to buy a used IKEA sofa that is 5-6 years old, you should generally check whether the sofa is an EKTORP or an EKESKOG. These two types look quite similar but differ in their size and armrest shape. The larger EKESKOG sofa has not been in IKEA's range for about 5 years. I don't know if these two types existed in parallel for a while.

The links to the covers are good, but I don't consider the price of a sofa with the cover to be a realistic offer...

Well, the price is certainly quite high compared to the original covers, that’s true, but since I come from the industry myself, I know of course that no one can match IKEA’s production quantities and costs, and thus all accessory products are automatically expensive (it’s like with car spare parts). However, there seem to be enough interested parties who are willing to have their old IKEA sofa reupholstered instead of buying a new sofa right away. I have the Ekeskog myself and it is the most comfortable sofa I have ever had. I don’t like the new IKEA sofas as much, regardless of the price, so I will probably reupholster mine eventually.

Whether the Ekeskog sofa was available as a corner sofa, I unfortunately cannot tell you.

Just to conclude: I am now sitting on the Ektorp, the covers also fit the Ektorp without the sleeping function.
