I fully understand that
Those are still my words so far.

We needed 4 months for the renovation of 2 houses - one of them stripped down to the exterior walls, like the demolition of a larger greenhouse ... with specialized companies. Starting with the demolition contractor, through roofer, plumber, heating, electrician, screeder, plasterer and ending with the woodworm, sanding and oiling the parquet. If you as a one-man show only needed 1 year, that is very fast Rheinische greetings

More of a 2-man show and occasionally a 4-man show. But the friends strangely quickly have something else to do

But whatever, I can understand. Today I leveled the floor, on Thursday the floorboards are coming and next week I’ll lay the things. Then quickly oil them and before that tile the bathroom. I also still have to paint the hallway and paint the door frames. Otherwise, more or less through.
It’s going to be some athletic weeks :/

Project start: May 2015
Project end: mid-November 2016
Project duration so far: 17 months

May 2015: initial talks with carpenter regarding roof conversion (dormer windows)
July 2015: discussions about possibilities, dormer size and type depending on local permits
September 2015: definition of dormer type and size, roof truss conversion, insulation conversion, etc.
October 2015: application for permits
January 2016: permit approval
February 2016: removal of interior cladding of roof/attic
March 2016: measurement by carpenter
April 2016: major demolition work in the apartment -> gutting; talks with bathroom installer/heating engineer about redesign of bathroom, laying of heating pipes, etc.
May 2016: final talks with carpenter, bathroom installer, "contract-ready planning"; further gutting/demolition work in the apartment
June 2016: last demolition and gutting works in the apartment, painting roof sheathing visible from outside the house
July 2016: roof completed with insulation, new windows installed. Exterior all finished, scaffolding dismantled again. Interior construction ongoing, insulating and sealing took about 2 weeks, water and sanitary available again (rough-in), next week chasing and laying cables.
August: various interior works such as drywall, electrical, wall paneling
September: further interior work, drywall (disgustingly many leveling tasks due to old structures), priming + plastering
October: half of the rooms have been painted, floors still need to be installed, bathroom needs bath to be installed, waterproofing and tiling to be done.
Mid/late October: all floors are installed and oiled, bathroom still needs a small part of the walls to be tiled and floor is missing. Toilet and washbasin to be installed next week.
Kitchen installation Tuesday

Next weekend is moving day.

Not everything will be completely finished, e.g. glass walls of the shower will only come mid-November, also some small things like door frames need to be painted for the 4th time and some lamps still need to be mounted.

I wanted to avoid managing the whole move within two days but it’s coming down to that. Good that I’m throwing away 3/4 of my stuff anyway, so decluttering won’t take too long.
