Drilling through a wooden stud wall

Hello, I need to drill a hole through an interior wall of a house with a timber frame construction. How exactly should I proceed? Simply position the drill and bore through? Or how do I find a suitable spot? Thanks for your tips. Ashley

Warning: layman's opinion
Timber frame buildings mostly have mineral wool etc. inside. However, cables may run through there that cannot move far enough away if you hit them exactly with a sharp wood drill bit. There are installation zones (can be googled). Otherwise, as a precaution, get a detector for cables and metal so you don't hit anything important. Then, in theory, you can just (carefully) start drilling. The exciting question, of course, is how big the hole should be and what should be done with it afterwards.

Hello, the hole doesn't have to be big. A LAN cable should go through it. In my opinion, there is no electricity etc. behind it. Could there be metal or something similar otherwise? Best regards
