We are now gradually planning our furniture. The question has come up whether we should design the cabinets with or without doors.

I am more in favor of with. Even though the look of a walk-in closet is more suitable without doors. But I think it simply gets too dusty. Especially the items that are hardly or not at all used. At least that has been my experience so far. We also had a free clothes rail in the bedroom, and due to my two pregnancies in quick succession, some items were not used for over 2 years and got quite dusty.

Well, so far we do not have [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] and in the future we will have one, but is that enough already?

What are your experiences?

Very good question, which is currently occupying us as well. We also have a controlled residential ventilation system. I am curious about the answers.

We have the wardrobes in our dressing room without wardrobe doors and yes, there is more dust on the shelves and the floor in this room. However, I find it more practical without wardrobe doors for daily use, and since we have a sloping ceiling, I wouldn’t be able to fit a door on every wardrobe as it wouldn’t be possible space-wise. However, we have separated the dressing room from the bedroom with a door.

Google "Ankleideraum" and go to "Images."
With the doors on the wardrobes, you will keep asking yourself "What should I wear today?"
The wardrobe doors are actually for privacy.
Try to avoid direct sunlight in the [Ankleideraum] to reduce air movement.

Yes, dust eventually settles on open shelves. Even or especially with a ventilation system. But dust also accumulated in my wardrobe back then. A dressing room or closet space has the advantage that you can see and scan your clothes at a glance. A room for a wardrobe is somehow pointless... a wallet for the purse, so to speak. I see it exactly like the last 3 before me. A dressing room is basically the wardrobe itself. I don't want to open even more doors. I don't believe that you rarely access a compartment so that it really gets dusty. For things you don't wear for such a long time, we don't sacrifice a compartment of our valuable 4.5m space.
