Hello everyone,

how high up are drawers still easily reachable? I am 175cm tall, my wife is a bit shorter.
What do you have? Feel free to share photos.

Specifically: In our mini pantry (150x105cm) there is a fridge/freezer combo against the back wall and currently a 40cm wide, open shelf next to it, but you never really get to the things at the very back well.

Idea: Equip the cupboard with drawers or pull-outs so that you can reach things better.
Current plan: See picture, top edge of the top drawer at 155cm:

Who has had good/bad experiences here? Offer everything: successes, pride, frustration, mistakes. We want to learn.

Or does anyone have a similar problem (very little space) solved differently and possibly much smarter? I’m all ears and eyes.

Thanks for your answers and best regards,

Blubstar

Hello, I suspect it works like this. You should only put relatively light things in at the top, but not too small. Because the overview will of course be limited by the fact that you can only look into the top drawer from the right side (eye level probably between 1.60 and 1.65 m).

Edit: Typo

how wide is the existing refrigerator? and how high is the room? I assume the refrigerator and shelf stand on the 105cm side... for the upper drawers you can also use pull-out baskets, you can see more easily what's inside, but it's not suitable for everything. regards robi

Hi Blubstar,
around the top, from chin height, I would recommend wire baskets for you. This way you can still see from below what is inside.

Hello everyone,

first of all, thanks for the responses.

@Mr. Rossi:
Wire baskets are actually a good idea, but the wire basket pull-outs don’t seem high-quality enough to me and they don’t fully extend. I will also use Maximera there, but the shallow one. The bottom edge of the drawer will then be just below 140cm. The upper edge of the drawer side will then be about 145cm high. That has to be enough.

@Robi:
Sure, the cabinet and refrigerator stand next to each other on the 105cm wide wall.

Best regards,

Blubstar

The nice thing about METOD is that you can buy drawers according to your needs and, for example, first install some only at the top and if it is impractical, use them at the bottom. I also find drawers at the very top practical, because if I need a little ladder anyway to reach the things, then I can also reach them better in the back with a pull-out.
