It's primarily about you and the daily dirt, isn't it?! What guests do, you show them when they are there: you take their jacket off, hang it where you planned, and it's similar with the shoes. And if they then spread the dirt, well, that's just how it is. Tip: don't clean before the guests come, but afterwards.
Is it a bit distorted? The door looks like it's about one and a half meters.
For parquet, I would also use a carpet mat or outdoor mat (there's a reason why hallways should be tiled). The problem there will be the height.
Maybe you can already put such a carpet mat, which can be beaten out weekly, outside.
For benches or wooden stools, there are plenty where you can put mats underneath.
We have tiles, go inside and then after two steps on a round carpet that can be washed. That's where shoes are taken off and placed in the wardrobe.
We have tiled everything completely. The lower floor (so also the living room etc.) is completely tiled.
Therefore, a carpet wouldn't really make sense.
Maybe it will still be a bench with a mat underneath – otherwise just a mat – we'll see.
Thanks already for the input!
