I would only consider it if you can almost rule out that you want to change the region again professionally. And wait and see what offers come your way in 5-10 years and with corresponding professional experience... or... jump now for 1-2 years into the big labor market balloon for engineers and see what jobs are offered to you nationwide now with 5 years of professional experience. If you then say that you can also have that in L or that you won't leave L for it, you can also build and bind yourself to L.
If you absolutely want something of your own - although with your aunt and cheap rent you already have a good/reliable basis - I would consider a condominium in (near) downtown location. I understand that you don't really want to go there, but if you ever want to leave, the location of the apartment is an advantage or even decisive.
