Currently, there is no alternative to Elastopave for drivable surfaces. The crucial point here is the binder, which elevates the surface to a completely different level than a pebble carpet. The grain composition is also different. On average, you can expect square meter prices of 90 euros for the aromatic and 200 euros for the aliphatic variant.

Elastopave is not a "real" asphalt. Normally, bitumen is used as a binder in asphalt. In the product elastopave from BASF, synthetic resins are used as binders. The advantage of this is the design freedom regarding coloring. You can't really color normal asphalt well. On the other hand, you first have to find someone who can install the synthetic resin material for you. So there are two things that make it expensive: the installation and the production in the asphalt mixing plant. Because the asphalt mixing plant, including all work equipment, must first be thoroughly cleaned to be able to mix normally again. And with such small quantities as driveways etc., this can become expensive. And I have also seen two construction sites where the installation did not go well at all because the workability leaves much to be desired.
