Does an external chimney have to go down to the basement?

Hello,

personally, I also find stainless steel chimneys rather impractical, as chic as they may be.

My brother has one on his house and occasionally has problems with condensation forming under the cladding of the flue pipe penetration through the outer wall.

This then runs down the house wall and causes unsightly streaks.

Since he told me about it, I have noticed this phenomenon on many similar chimneys.

Additionally, I find it more practical in a new build to place the chimney centrally inside the house so that the stove can also be positioned centrally and not necessarily on an outer wall.

Regards,

Dirk
