How do you get the liquid Raufaser off the wall again?

So, the search function brought me here....it's quite old, but I'll hijack it for myself.

In our new little house, it was considered great to paint almost all the rooms with this "pest" of liquid textured wallpaper. In the children's room, my daughter would like to have a photo wallpaper on one wall. Of course, we started working on ONE wall there. It's dragging on, it dusts endlessly, and I'm about to go crazy.
My other internet research led me to a video where someone uses a steam device to get the stuff off well. Has anyone ever tried that? Or otherwise have an ultimate tip for me?

Can you apply a textured plaster over this paint (in the other rooms)?

Steam probably doesn’t do much, since the liquid textured wallpaper I know is dispersion-based. You then have to use strippers, which I wouldn’t recommend to laymen. Rather get a giraffe sander, sand off as well as possible, and skim coat. But for a wall, you can certainly also do it by hand, maybe get a plastering plane or [Gitterrabbot].

Our painter sanded off the stuff. It was a huge mess and a lot of work.

So...a quick interim report. We were able to borrow a small steam cleaner and found that there was still partially wallpaper underneath at least on the "photo wallpaper wall." From there, it got much easier until we hit a layer of oil-based paint. We're still unsuccessfully scraping at that *laugh*. Otherwise, the steam method for light loosening is not a bad idea. The wood chips are supposed to come off as well as possible, and after that, a regular textured wallpaper will simply go up. We still have enough other things that need to be done.
