Division of a semi-detached house along the roof ridge

Hi,

I'm considering building a semi-detached house and already have a plot of land for it. Due to the location of the plot and the development plan, only a semi-detached house is possible, where the division is along the ridge of the roof. Now my question is, does anyone know if there is anything fundamental that would speak against this? So far, I haven't found a semi-detached house that is divided this way and I wonder if I'm overlooking something essential. Maybe someone here knows more.

Why? Is the ridge direction specified?

I can well imagine that the acoustic decoupling is significantly more complex and that the space under the roof is harder to utilize. It is possible that this is why it is not common.

Yep, and for dividing the property, splitting the house in this direction would be advantageous. Otherwise, one property would have to grant the other a right of way, making it less attractive.
