Hello everyone,

we want to have the parquet floor in the living room replaced.
The offer arrived today. Everything is basically coherent and understandable. Only the disposal part shocked us: "Disposal landfill - 75€/sqm" o_O
That's almost as expensive as the new parquet floor. Altogether, we end up with almost 2,000 euros just for the disposal.

The company must know what they are offering and why.
But it must be possible to do it cheaper, right?
Is it worth doing it ourselves?

We don't have a trailer, and unfortunately, I don't know if the parquet is glued. It is definitely lacquered.

Hello,
let's do some quick math....
Parquet weighs 10-12 kg per sqm. Let's be very generous and say 20 kg. Then you would be facing disposal costs of 3750 euros per tonne... Completely impossible! Asbestos boards would be cheaper...

A quick search shows disposal costs for treated wood in the range of 75-100 euros per tonne.

I would kindly point out to the company that they surely must have made a mistake. 75 €/tonne is okay.
If they are serious, I would definitely keep my distance from that place.

Best regards,

Andreas

Thank you, we were also very surprised. Let's assume it is not only painted but also glued and therefore hazardous waste... that still can't be right, can it? At that price, we've already considered stacking it ourselves behind the shed and never thinking about it again

maybe they mean cubic meters? That would make more sense. For clearance companies, 40 EUR / m³ is common. If you then have the hazardous waste surcharge, almost double is plausible.

Ask at the recycling center. That is not 30sqm, you can usually transport that even without a trailer if in doubt. If you deliver it yourself as a private person, you usually also get the cheaper rate.

In Berlin, that would be ALtholz or bulky waste and up to 3 cubic meters even for free. Per collection point per day.
