Hello,

with apparently a bit too much force, our dishwasher door unfortunately crashed onto a trash can when opening. As a result, the screws at all four points where the dishwasher was drilled from the inside into the panel/dishwasher door have broken out. The former screw holes on the inside of the dishwasher door are, of course, no longer usable due to the damage.

But now I wonder: Is it somehow possible to repair this? Is there perhaps some substance (for me as a layman, possibly a material like silicone) that can be filled into such (former screw) holes so that the door can be reattached with four screws to the dishwasher? Or is there no remedy for this anymore?

Yes, wood filler/ repair filler for wood. Available in any hardware store.

I had the same problem. I also tried several things. Unfortunately, the force required to open the door of the dishwasher is so great that it keeps pulling out. I bought a new front.

If this front is still available ;) Alternatively, use wood filler and apply plenty of mounting adhesive.

And above all, think about the "jerk"... 4 torn-out screws mean considerable force was involved.

If it’s Ikea, I would try to look for a replacement front on classifieds etc. if it’s no longer in the program. You can probably fill it with wood filler, but you always have a weak point there, and to open the dishwasher you always need a strong pull. I would expect it to break again within a foreseeable time. If you go with the filler option, I agree with MistD’s tip; I would also additionally reinforce it with mounting adhesive. That stuff holds up quite well.

Drill out break points with a Forstner bit and glue in a dowel. Similar to a cup hinge. Then a screw will hold again. For a tip, a carpenter nearby might do it during lunch break.
