It’s probably also situation-dependent. Our SBS fridge is exactly on the opposite side from the sink. But it is fully integrated into the kitchen ceiling height and has an external filter, which has to be connected into the 5mm line.

Should I put this behind the 130-kilo fridge, which I would then have to pop out of the niche once a year? No, it goes neatly under the sink on the wall. For that we just accept the adapter. Because I find it pointless to place two cold water taps directly next to each other.

Ok, with us the separate connection line would be longer (about 2.5m), since the refrigerator is not in the kitchen unit. Now I am undecided whether I should stick to the reservations about the "stale tap water" or have a line pulled over (before the screed goes in in the next few weeks)?
