Demolition cost of an old basement 1970

We had our house with a small basement demolished in April. It cost 20TE with self-stripping and filling. It could have been cheaper, but I wanted to have it done by the construction company.

How big was the house approximately and which or how many containers did you need for the self-stripping? In other words: Was the self-stripping worth it after deducting the disposal costs?

For us, it was worthwhile. However, we did not have a container, but really took everything separately to the landfill. My sons still used many things for sheds and the like. We also gave some away in exchange for self-removal. Posted on classifieds, there are enthusiasts for everything usable.

What does self-stripping mean? For us, the basement would be a pure concrete basement. You would only have to remove two empty oil tanks as well as an old heating system and a wooden window. Or do you mean stripping the house.

But that is already a good approach. Our planning of 15k without re-compacting is not far off.

We just wanted a rough reference point so that we don't offer too much for the property and later get surprised by the costs.

I think we better have a professional assess it. Someone who can get a precise picture of the basement and the soil conditions on site.
