Data protection at the building authority - (not) an issue?

I don’t know how it is with you, but we seem to get a data protection briefing in the company about every 3 months.

Yesterday I received information from the building authority that our future neighbor is getting their building permit. To my surprise, a copy of their permit was simply enclosed, showing all private address data.
One can assume that the procedure is always the same and thus not an isolated case. Is this normal? My husband and I found it strange right away, or are we just too well trained?

It’s only going to the neighbors and not to [Fratzenbuch] or similar. You need to know who you are dealing with in case of problems during construction and then be able to hold them liable accordingly.

Is actually unnecessary. Builders (your neighbors) have to put up a construction sign with the address.

In our construction area, the property boundaries were measured and marked (still no idea what that is supposed to be and why I was supposed to be there??) and afterwards there was the boundary report from the surveyor. For half of the construction area, we now have the registered owners from the land register including maiden names and who has formed a GbR, whose parents are in the land register instead of the "owners," etc....

It's refreshing, a bit of an ideal world like in the old days...

I was annoyed that our address was on the construction sign hanging on the site fence visible to everyone. We had applied for the building permit here on site before our move to the temporary apartment, and there were actually people who googled our address, looked at our then house on Maps, and then openly told me about it. Long live data protection!

But woe if the class teacher accidentally publishes a private address in the parent chat... Then all hell breaks loose ;)
