Hello,

we are considering whether to lay continuous parquet flooring (glued) in our large living/dining area with an open kitchen (with underfloor heating)...

While browsing the internet, I came across "bamboo parquet," which is supposedly ideal for this (very hard, durable, low thermal resistance, and OF COURSE super ecological).

I have already visited the websites of various suppliers (bambuskomfort.de, bambeau.de, bambusconcepts.de), where the price range varies from about €30 per sqm to €80 per sqm.

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer/dealer? We would like a relatively dark parquet, visually towards walnut wood, etc...

Greetings from Franconia

Alex

We have such a bamboo parquet. T&W Boston bamboo parquet bamboo dark matte sealed.

Looks great, was easy to install, BUT: the floor structure with the foam foil underneath is almost 18mm. You have to keep that in mind if you want to lay tiles next to it. Tiles are usually 12mm. A good tiler can manage that. And the parquet, as I want to claim now, every sealed parquet is extremely susceptible. Every little stone between chair and floor, every harder dust crumb will leave a nice white mark. What you then see is not a scratch in the bamboo (grass), but in the sealing. That was so annoying and noticeable that we have now laid a simple bamboo lamella carpet (costs about 100€) under the dining table despite felt gliders on the chairs. Our little one (10 months) also managed to put a small dent in the parquet last week.

But I say this, it is a natural material, it lives with the apartment. When there are enough scratches and dents in it, the individual ones no longer stand out.

When laying, be sure to pay attention to mixing the planks. They are partially very different in color tone. At first I was shocked, but when the room is finished, everything fits again.

Thank you for the first quick response! Your parquet really looks good

Do you have underfloor heating? You write that the entire floor construction with foam foil is almost 18 mm, which means you installed it floating? We would prefer gluing due to the lower thermal resistance...

Okay, draw: You didn't look at the pictures properly, I didn't read the post correctly. In the first picture, there's a white thing hanging, you might not recognize it nowadays, but it's a radiator. We hate underfloor heating.

Well, gluing parquet is quite a thing, I don't know much about it. But I wonder how the wood is supposed to move and how you protect the parquet from drying out. Our parquet moves quite a bit, in summer with 70% humidity and in winter with 30-40%. You can especially see it at the edges. But according to the description, it is suitable for underfloor heating.

We paid 32 € per square meter, so far less than what is advertised on the internet. We bought it from a local wood specialist dealer. Visually, it is one of our highlights.

OKAY, yes the white radiators can be easily overlooked

I have already looked into underfloor heating and parquet flooring - the parquet should preferably only be treated with oil and not completely sealed (for better breathing) and yes you are right, you have to pay attention to the humidity, it should always be between I think 40 - 60 % otherwise there will be strong joint formation.

If possible, we also want to buy locally and have it installed. With online retailers I am just getting information in advance about what color tones etc. are available...

You can't manage that without external help. We had about 20% in the house during the first winter because the ventilation system also brings in the dry air from outside. After we retrofitted the moisture recovery, we had an average of about 35%. For more, I would have to constantly cook pasta or buy a humidifier. However, we didn't have any plants yet.
