Hello,
we have the following problem. We purchased a new apartment. During the installation of the oak parquet, the drying times seemingly were not observed. It is completely glued down and then lacquered. After some time, in more and more places, joint filler has pushed up like swellings. These are more or less noticeable throughout the entire apartment and sometimes lie like narrow sausages in the direction of the joints.
The parquet installer only said casually that the floor would just need to be sanded again and resealed. We have about 64 sqm of parquet installed in the apartment. Three rooms are continuously connected with this parquet. For us, this would mean moving out, storing the furniture, and staying in a hotel for about 3 days.
According to the builder, we are obliged to cooperate. That means emptying the furniture, packing, etc.
Now the circumstances are too much for us, and we would rather tend towards compensation payment. That means a reduction. However, according to the builder, this would only be at the net price of sanding and resealing. About €14 per sqm. This does not reflect the damage at all in terms of price for us. Especially since we would then waive all warranty claims and bear the risk of possibly having to fix it later after all. Then we certainly would not be satisfied with the estimated compensation payment.
Therefore, the question is, is the builder correct? Or should the compensation payment be higher?
Thank you very much for any help!
