Huhu :)

Is a single-story extension on the ground floor or a roof structure extension on the upper floor probably more expensive? It would be about 25 sqm regardless of the variant.

Since we have to renovate anyway, with pipes, tubing, windows, etc. needing to be redone, it shouldn’t matter at first which position of the connections would be cheaper :)

Thanks and best regards

What exactly should I understand by a "Dachstuhlverlängerung"?

Egal is from the beginning of time 88; a little more precise wouldn't be so wrong ;)

So there is an existing extension on the ground floor. We would basically realize this on top as well. Nothing would need to be built up, rather the roof would be placed/extended like in the rest of the house.

I am not interested in prices here but in an assessment. Until now, we wanted to achieve more living space upstairs and no matter who we talk to, they say: better extend downstairs. After hearing this for the fifth time, we have thought about a possible floor plan and it wouldn’t be bad :) Now my fear is rather that it would exceed the financial limit. The cost estimate for the roof extension is currently being prepared by a carpenter. Who is the best person to ask about the extension downstairs? Are they simply called bricklayers? ;)

Many thanks.

Don't you have an architect who can tell you the advantages and disadvantages/prices?
In addition, the structural engineering of the extension must of course also allow for an add-on.

Hello,

without detailed information about the existing structure, a serious answer is simply not possible ... so I’m groping in the dark.

Something like in the attached sketch? Apart from the fact that I wouldn’t realize the extension completely in wood, you don’t really gain much usable space with this variant. Have you even talked to the building authority to see if an extension of the existing structure is approved?

That requires much more information; a cross-section of the existing building wouldn’t be bad either. Depending on the area you are considering and what adaptations to the existing structure are necessary, the woodworm can offer just as expensively as the stone layer.

Yes. Although I would rather contact a smaller construction company; a few windows can be included as well ;)

Yes, the development plan is available - so everything is approvable :)
Among other things, we were also at the building authority yesterday.
I will upload drawings this evening for better understanding.
It is clear to us that we need an architect, but he does not have to take over the entire planning for us. I can already think about how big roughly and where anyway... The architect should only do what he has to for us...
The carpenter checks the statics as part of the cost estimate.

The original idea above to create more living space was to achieve a closed building envelope and create a uniform appearance...
However, it actually makes more sense to realize the extension below, even if the appearance suffers because of it ;)
