Hello everyone,

we are currently in the process of developing our property. In short, we cannot avoid the installation of a soakaway, a cistern, and a throttling system. (as far as I have technically understood)

We now have a cost estimate for this, which is not at all clear to us, and we ask for your opinion:

We are interested in your opinion on the following items: (net prices in EUR)

1. Soakaway (volume approx. 20 cbm with retention basin approx. 13m x 2.4m and 0.66 m deep) plus throttling shaft DN 600 and casing of the Raussikko system - including earthworks and removal of excess soil - 18,700 €
2. Transfer shaft T>=1.50m rainwater 1,600 €
3. Transfer shaft T>=1.50m wastewater 1,600 €
4. Installing a 9000l cistern 4,500 €
5. Creating a transfer shaft for water meter shaft 1,600 €

THANK YOU for your help.

OK, I am also just an amateur but once installed a 4 cm³ cistern myself. However, here a soakaway was deliberately omitted and surplus water was preferably pumped into the garden. If it should be possible for you (soil conditions and garden size), I would also consider this.

Regarding 2:

I do not understand why another transfer shaft for the rainwater should be built.

Regarding 3:

Whether such a shaft is necessary for you I cannot say. It certainly depends on how long the pipe is or whether this is required there. I can only say that we do not have a transfer shaft.

Regarding 4:

Are the earthworks and the total costs for the connection including materials (cistern, pipes, etc.) included in the 4500 euros?

Then the price is probably OK.

What material is the cistern supposed to be made of?

Regarding 5:

I would much rather install a water meter inside the house.

On the one hand, without question protected from frost. On the other hand, reading it there is much easier, also occasionally.

Maybe just as a rough indication regarding costs. In self-performance, our cistern including new pipes, bends, etc. as well as a drainage channel and pumps cost about 1500 euros. This also included disposing of concrete and buying sand.
