Hello everyone,
in my brother's apartment, the bathroom was renovated in recent weeks and among other things, new tiles were laid. At a 90° corner, where a 1.20m high tiled wall (including the finishing profile) meets the baseboard, the tiler, in our opinion, "botched" something. My brother's wish was that the 1.20m high tiled wall (including the finishing profile) should reach down to the floor and be joined to the finishing profile of the baseboard (I tried to visualize it in the photo).

However, the tiler says that this would not be possible in terms of installation (without further explanation). My initial research showed that the dark baseboard tile could have been glued to the finishing profile (and the rest of the wall) with a reactive resin adhesive, alternatively the area of the finishing strip would have remained without tile adhesive (from the baseboard tile) and the gap simply grouted.

What do you think? Is the tiler right here or can my brother object to this execution?

Thanks in advance!

Basically, bonding the base tile with reaction resin would actually have been possible. It is to be disputed that he claims to have done it that way, as the effort and costs for a reaction resin adhesive do not justify its use on a standard wall. Nevertheless, from an expert point of view, I would not officially object or formally reprimand this "minor issue." This would only be possible if the execution detail had been previously documented in writing. However, this is certainly not the case. Therefore, the given situation may be suitable to express displeasure for aesthetic reasons, but not from a technical standpoint! I would seek a conversation with the tiler; he should remove the tile from the wall and bond the new tile according to the requirements and wishes. This is actually not a big effort – and certainly not a problem! I would – this is my recommendation – cover the (undoubtedly manageable) costs and not let any discord arise. ------------------- The whole matter is too insignificant for a dispute – even if it might be seen differently from the client’s side. Regards and a wise decision: KlaRa
