That thing is called a lintel, and the proper way would probably be to extend it well beyond the window reveals.
Nowadays, people often omit the window lintels and extend the roller shutter boxes right up to the ceiling. A slim little support can carry the corner roller shutter box – but not what’s above it. Then, a shameless amount of static reinforcement has to go into the ceiling.
