Hello everyone,
my drill stopped working over the weekend.
Now the question is whether I should buy a cordless screwdriver instead, because I didn't have one so far and always had to work with extension cables when I needed to drill something.
I also read some experiences on the internet, but many say it depends on the situation which one is better.

What would you advise me to do? Or maybe buy both, but not spend too much on each?

Links are not allowed here.

But on the topic:
It depends on what you want to do with it.
I have not had good experiences with cheap devices, so I would not recommend them to you.

There are now really good cordless (impact) drills. For example, from Hitachi, Bosch, Makita, and all those other names.
Before starting construction, I bought a Hitachi 18V cordless drill with impact function. Including a second battery and an extensive bit set, it cost just under 300 euros. With it, you can even make holes in the concrete ceiling.
However, if there are more holes to be made in the concrete ceiling, I prefer to borrow my father's Hilti.

The name is clear & program: screwing/drilling.

With very high-quality cordless screwdrivers (Makita, Festool, etc.), larger/longer wood drill bits can also be used, which are used in the field of timber construction/carpentry work. Drilling into MW up to 6-8mm is still possible, drilling into concrete is nonsensical, except with cordless hammer drills designed for that purpose. This is not possible (for long) with the usual "semi-professional machines" from hardware stores. As always, it depends on what tasks the machine is mainly going to be used for.

Also my recommendation from personal bad experiences: only buy really good tools and machines. Otherwise, you will buy three times if you build for a long time.

Moin Moin

google Bosch GSR 18 V EC FC2

I discovered it last week when buying tools, it might not be the worst solution for your requirements.

I got myself a cordless hammer drill (GSR 14.4 2 LI) for construction, primarily for screwing tasks and drilling in wood, but also to quickly make a hole for a picture or something. Using a 5mm/6mm drill bit works in concrete blocks. Concrete ceiling - I don't know. Poroton and aerated concrete should definitely work well, KS should also work well.

For the rough work, I also have a green Bosch rotary hammer (500W) and a Bosch GBH 4-32 DFR Professional, with which 25mm holes in concrete go like a hot knife through butter..

Since a lot of self-performed work was required on my construction site, I got myself a very good 14.4 V Makita cordless screwdriver. For the heavier tasks, the largest green Bosch rotary hammer. So far, it's a very good combination. But it's also not cheap. However, you do want to use the tools for a longer time.
