If the cooktop is flush with the countertop, it is especially tricky, but with a surface-mounted frame (like most cooktops have) it should - for a skilled craftsman - be possible to bridge the gap. It won't be cheap, but it should be doable.

One might also fundamentally say, yes, you have chosen a variant (Keramik, flächenbündig) where changing the cooktop will sooner or later lead to a new countertop. The same applies to recessed sinks and the like.

Unfortunately true. They had the alloy wheels specially made for the dream car and now complain that no serial manufacturer can be found who offers similar dimensions. I exchanged a Whirlpool cooktop for one from Siemens and didn't have to modify it by even a millimeter... well, okay.

But where exactly is the problem with flush mounting if it's missing 1cm in width? 5mm gap per side, just pour something in? A resin, a plastic, there are options. It won't be 100% perfect, that's clear.

and is there really no manufacturer that offers a cooktop with larger dimensions? Not even a drop-in one? That would then be the simplest, nicest, and most cost-effective solution (even if the cooktop were more expensive).
