Maybe you just ask her what or how it would have to be for her to agree. Maybe you build a carport/garage and she may use it as long as she still has a car; contractually secured for the lady.

This is exactly what I already suggested, you just translated it now as a replacement building.

Hi, I don't think she will need money primarily. Older people probably don't want big changes, so you should make it as comfortable as possible for the lady. Maybe there are still options like care, shopping assistance, etc. Garage replacement has already been described. Give it your all... Olli

When she is in her mid-80s, it might be an idea if you could support her long-term. For example, mowing the lawn, bringing something from shopping. That would answer the question of what she gets out of it. Can mowing the lawn be regulated by contract? I don’t really know how best to communicate that, so it’s not exactly simple. But from her point of view, she really has nothing but trouble with you otherwise, if no one urgently needs the money right now. I also don’t know if a good price might perhaps convince her daughters.

Stupid that Corona is. I think the idea of a letter is very good. To show a nice letter with a family photo. To show how long you have been searching. Why you want to build there now. A young family wants to live in a nice, established district. Not in a new development area. Offer to have a contract drafted by a lawyer of their choice at your expense. And above all: mean it sincerely! Maybe ask around beforehand what they like. Send the letter together with a small gift.

I definitely think a letter is a better next step than showing up there in person, whether with or without Corona. Otherwise, she might feel pressured and definitely won't sell.
