The replacement for solar thermal is usually the heating element and not the domestic hot water heat pump. Ultimately, solar energy should continue to be used and a heating element is more cost-effective and does not draw from the electricity mix.
And of course, heat storage is economically feasible only through large buffer tanks, often 800 liters and above, because one may want to shower or bathe when the sun is not shining. An alternative could possibly be a salt storage. Battery storage is not an option due to its lack of economic viability; rather, an electric car is considered if it can supply electricity bidirectionally.
As a peak heat generator, the gas boiler remains, which, however, does not serve the large buffer tank but the 300-liter tank. The whole system just needs to be properly controlled.
