Sounds really bad, but it's not. It's about an amount that, so far, is manageable. Don't worry!!
What else should it be...? The government is shutting everything down. For me, force majeure. Your contractor can’t do anything about it. Borders closed, etc. I also don’t understand your hurry. Have you spoken to him reasonably? What does he say about the situation? Does he potentially let you off the hook? You have to consider that he would lose a secure contract. I wouldn’t accept it like that.Okay, you know better about that. So far, it wasn’t clear whether the current crisis qualifies as force majeure, but I haven’t looked into it further. I’ll get advice from a lawyer. At the moment, however, I don’t see any efforts from the company to find alternatives. Basically, I’m always in favor of joint solutions, but we are also reaching our limits; we are behind schedule (not only with the remaining trades; we were already behind with the shell construction), no indication that they want to share ongoing costs. And our private situation is unfortunately not so good either. Oh yes, a not insignificant question just occurred to me. Part of the construction costs we have to finance through a loan, which is coming up in the next few weeks. Until two weeks ago, that would have been no problem at all, but how are banks currently behaving when regular income is, let’s say, significantly reduced due to loss of work? Have you heard anything about that?
Due to the restricted entry regulations because of the Corona pandemic, it is currently not possible for workers from abroad to complete the upcoming tasks, such as drywall construction and ETICS.
Maybe the material is out at other construction sites, or previous trades are not finished and now the following trades have to twiddle their thumbs. Everything is very, very dynamic right now.we are already looking for replacement companies in parallel, completely unexpected for us, we already have offers from several companies. Strange, maybe a lot got mixed up.
