That means his former parents-in-law have now bought from your partner the apartment in the house where they have been living anyway with their daughter and grandchildren, so far as tenants? Sounds fine to me; sensible and also reasonable in a social sense.

No, a relative bought the apartment where the mother-in-law still lives. The mother-in-law paid off the loan share for her daughter (my husband's ex-wife)... the mother-in-law now just pays rent to the relative...
