Hello everyone,

we are interested in a plot of land and have a general soil report for the entire construction area.
Two boreholes are located in the immediate vicinity of the plot:

1st borehole:
- 0.50 topsoil
- 1.20 fine sand (slightly medium sandy, slightly silty, yellow)
- 4.00 sand (fine- to medium-grained, sand streaks, slightly silty, gray)

2nd borehole:
- 0.60 topsoil
- 2.50 sand (fine- to medium-grained, gray-yellow)
- 3.00 fine sand (silty, gray)

The building is planned without a basement.

Can someone give me an assessment regarding the condition, earthworks?
I know, no soil report for the plot, but a tendency would already help me.

Thank you very much!
Martin

Not much can be derived from this information. In the Greater Berlin area, there is sand everywhere and houses stand there. So you can build there (airports are bad ). The decisive factor is the soil pressure, i.e., the load-bearing capacity of the subsoil. That is included in the geotechnical report, which is the purpose of it. From these figures, the structural engineer calculates the floor slab or basement and also specifies the construction of the floor slab.

Thank you for the response. Do the following additional details from the attachments help with an assessment?

Sand is not inherently a bad substrate.

Just pay a local geologist an hourly rate to explain the two borehole profiles.

As writes, it should not be a problem to build a single-family house on it. The geotechnical engineer can explain this to you.
