Hey,
we had our house built in 2015. Of course, we really ran into trouble with it and then did most of the work ourselves so that we could at least move in in 2017. Now at the end of 2019, we have new additions: 2 girls, of course. So now the issue begins, namely my study has to give way soon to create a second children's room so that one of the two girls can have her own room in the future. The attic definitely has potential to create my workspace there. Insulation is installed, the sloped ceilings are covered with OSB boards, and I want to put ceiling panels over them because I think that looks better than painting over the OSB boards. We had problems with that in the lower rooms. My biggest problem, and this is where I want to ask for your advice, is the floor in the attic. It is constructed so that there is insulation between the beams and then thick chipboard panels are supposed to form the floor in the attic. I think that is too little because the floor has waves or is uneven. My question is: can I put a leveling screed on these chipboard panels and then lay dry screed panels on top to then lay laminate over it, or would that be too much weight? Unfortunately, I only have photos showing the wooden beams from below where the chipboard panels are installed above before the space was insulated. Maybe that helps you. I can also measure the beam thickness if needed, we still have a leftover cross-section. It's just important to me that I don't end up one floor lower if it turns out to be too much load. Maybe you can help me with that.
Best regards and thanks in advance
