Cold rooms despite warm heating

Hello dear people,

I was very dissatisfied with my heating at the wintry temperatures at the beginning of the year. Because for me and in the rooms it was always cold, even though the heaters themselves felt nice and warm. Now with the dropping temperatures, I currently have the same problem again and would like to solve it with the [Reflective foils]. What do you think of my idea?
And one more quick question at the end: How have you better sealed your windows to prevent drafts?

Hello Klemmer41, if the heating works well but the rooms do not get properly warm, this is due to heat loss through the enclosing walls and/or windows. There is hardly more to say about this without checking the situation on site.

The reflective foils can help a bit, but if all the walls have poor thermal insulation and the windows are possibly not double-glazed, or are leaking, then it does not help.

Windows can be sealed in two ways: 1. over the rebate of the frame; that is where the sash frame meets the fixed frame. There are many suitable products for this; you have to pay attention to the thickness of the sealing tape, which depends on the rebate, so that the tape is not too thin (window remains leaky) or too thick (window is too difficult to close).

2. sealing the connection of the fixed frame to the masonry, that is the installation joint. However, if I do not know the installation situation, I cannot say anything about the exact sealing method.

To what extent can the mentioned reflection foils actually help? They do not prevent heat loss or even increase the heat content in the room. Or am I thinking too much about sound and the comparison is actually inappropriate?

Reflection films do not help because the problem goes deeper; it has nothing to do with sound. As already mentioned: Check whether the windows are sealed, this can be done quite well with a candle, a lighter, or something similar; hold the flame near the seams and the window frame grooves (but be careful). If the flame moves or even flickers, the seam is not sealed. Do you have insulated windows (double or multiple glazing)?

Hello, Every year again and so the time has come again. Warm heating, cold rooms, that is simply disgusting. So such reflective foils bring nothing, that is the wrong approach. My windows and also the door are leaky. So I sealed it with insulating tape. That brings some points. A new boiler must also be invested in. BG

Yes, that is really annoying, especially in cold temperatures. I have also installed new windows and I notice it immediately. Now the rooms are pleasantly warm and the heating costs are lower as well. Not as much as the window installer wrote, but in any case, the costs are not rising.
