Hello everyone,

we are currently building according to KFW40+ with a controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery. Offered is the Vitovent 300-W including a CO2 sensor for an additional €235 net.

I have the following questions regarding this:

1) Is a CO2 sensor useful? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Is it merely a "comfort gain" or does the power consumption also decrease because the controlled residential ventilation system regulates itself automatically?

2) In which room would a CO2 sensor make the most sense and why? In the parents' bedroom or in the living room? We have a relatively open area on the ground floor consisting of the living room, kitchen, and dining room. The parents' bedroom is located on the first floor.

Thank you very much for your advice! If you need any further information for a more informed statement, please let me know.

Best regards

VOC would make more sense and preferably at least two. In the kitchen and in the parents' bedroom. Since you are only using one CO2 sensor, then in the parents' bedroom. Basically, it is a matter of comfort. You will not save electricity with it. At least not substantially.
