Hello everyone,

we are currently facing the decision regarding our brick selection.
The options are Olfry Glasgow Glatt and Wienerberger Dresden.

Which one would you recommend regarding appearance and quality?

Thank you in advance!

Neither nor. Anthracite tones are, in my opinion, on the decline, a trend that is finally coming to an end.

But that's simply a matter of taste. By the way, is there a price difference?

Do you know which trend is on the rise? I ask because I am very interested and would also like to know which media you get your information from.

No, there are no price differences.

- The object is important, no information is given here about it ....

- How is the environment?

- The darker the stone, the smaller the object appears

- I would also pay attention to how it generally looks with subsequent deliveries, whether it has been in the program for a long time, etc.

- Look at references... a clinker on the object looks different again.

- I personally would avoid an *Engobe* today, it is good if the stone is colored throughout

The motivation here is probably to avoid the disruption of the color pattern caused by chipping. However, I would caution that an engobe is not only an inferior coloring (in the sense of only affecting the surface, seen against the background of a deeper acting through-coloring) but can also be a more professional coloring: the advantage lies precisely in the fact that this apparent bug is on the other hand also a feature. The coloring additive here only affects the surface, leaving the core of the stone undisturbed, allowing it to influence its structure. After all, an additive is not supposed to dilute the quality of the material. Because, let us not forget: anthracite-colored clays do not naturally occur. A correspondingly through-colored clinker would therefore need an additive that either imparts its color to the material or changes its color in the firing process. For the former, it would probably act like a kind of food coloring (coloring only but not changing the consistency), while in the second case the chemical reaction would also affect the quality of the material's structure. A surface coloring instead of a through-coloring is therefore by no means always cheapness aimed at products in the price segment for budget patients, but can also be professionally necessary if no sufficiently weakly reactive coloring agent is found – which tends to be the case the more the customer wants an unnatural color. Natural clays from deposits on our planet are essentially located in the brown spectrum. There may be anthracite clays on the moon, but they are inaccessible for the local building materials trade.
