Hello everyone,

Since we have a sloping plot, we have installed granite palisades on the higher side, creating an approximately 1.5-meter-wide area that looks like a raised bed. Below the granite palisades is lawn. This allowed us to get the lawn area relatively level. Now the palisades look quite "bare" and we would like to plant plants that partially hang down and cover the palisades. The area receives sun almost all day long. At the back, it is sunny only in the afternoon. Which plants can you recommend? Ideally, they should be hardy and bloom as long and intensely as possible. The icing on the cake would be if the plants are resistant to slugs, as a forest starts directly behind the bed and we always have quite a few slugs.

I can recommend the Eunymus. It is light green and [panaschiert] it has a light edge. Very hardy and friendly. I use it everywhere as ground cover.

sunny: trailing rosemary, winter jasmine (flowers in winter, so right now nicely yellow) sunny and/or semi-shady: blue periwinkle or rock cress. Many ground covers are also suitable as hanging plants. Honestly, I don't know how it is with snails, but they usually don't go for rosemary and jasmine, as they are shrubs.

Thanks already for the tips. That sounds good for now. I have attached a picture for better illustration: The rear area (forest) is south. The upper palisades are now already covered by bushes and hardly visible in summer anymore. So it is about the lower part.

Ivy works well, for example - both in the shade and in the sun, and is resistant to drought. You could also let the wall be covered with wild grapevine. Ivy is evergreen, wild grapevine is bare in winter - both can be trimmed with the hedge trimmer and guided along the wall.
