Never again ivy… it spreads uncontrollably and eventually becomes unsightly.

I didn't really want ivy either, especially since it doesn't bloom. But I do like the rest that was written that way.

you could also create a bed from a piece of the lawn in front of the wall and let it grow in from below/front with perennials and grasses.
