Hello everyone,

according to the scope of services, the walls in our new building (ETW) are to be plastered and finished in Q2.

Since I prefer the look of a "smooth" painted wall, I would like to have it smoothed instead of finished. The goal is to achieve a texture like in the picture attached.

The experiences with Q2 painting seem to be very mixed; would you recommend going to Q3?
Can the look in the picture be achieved by "smoothing" the plaster?

Thanks in advance for your support
Ingo

The surface in your photo looks terrible. Q3 means properly smooth and not like a crater landscape (Q2 doesn’t look like that either). Whether Q3 is directly paintable depends on the plasterer.

Thank you for your answer. The photo was really only supposed to be an approximate reference But basically I am correct with "smoothed," right? With a Q3 finish I should have the best chances of getting a reasonably smooth wall, right?

If Q3 is "halbwegs", then the cleaner has not delivered a good performance. Google "Qualität Putz" and read the first results. Then you will know more.

I have now inquired about what Q3 would cost in smooth, let's see. I don't think I'll be happy with Q2 in the long run otherwise :/

We are currently facing the same decision and you often read online that Q2 can also be skipped altogether. It is apparently also the standard, especially in newly built rental apartments. Why do you think you wouldn't be happy with it?
